News: Domestic Terrorism Hearing
(77WABC) — The head of the FBI — Director Christopher Wray — addressed the skyrocketing rate of murders against police officers Sunday. He says the surge — up 59% in 2021 — is outpacing general violent crime.
Wray made these comments during a 60 Minutes interview on Sunday.

“Violence against law enforcement in this country is one of the biggest phenomena that I think doesn’t get enough attention,” Wray said, adding that officers are being murdered at a rate of nearly “one every five days.”
The total murder rate rose 29% last year. The U.S. lost 73 police officers to attacks during 2021.
So far this year, as of April 1, the National Fraternal Order of Police says shootings of police officers are up 43% in 2022, with 101 police officers shot nationwide.
