LOUISIANA (77WABC) — A Federal judge in Louisiana is temporarily blocking the Biden administration from ending Title 42 —a pandemic restriction which was set in place on the US-Mexico border. The measure allows the border patrol to turn migrants back to Mexico because of the threat of spreading COVID.
Title 42 was imposed during the Trump administration.
President Biden has been aiming to lift title 42 on May 23rd–despite opposition by many republicans who fear a flood of migrants at the border.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki says the administration is preparing to lift Title 42, a decision she says was made by the CDC.
