NEW YORK (77WABC) — Former President Trump is suing Hillary Clinton, alleging that Clinton and the Democratic National Committee concocted a link between the Trump campaign and Russia, triggering “an unfounded federal investigation” and a “media frenzy.” accusing them of conspiring to destroy his 2016 campaign.
The lawsuit, filed in South Florida District Court, claims that Clinton and other members of the DNC “orchestrated an unthinkable plot – one that shocks the conscience and is an affront to this nation’s democracy.” The alleged plot in question involved falsifying records and manipulating data in an attempt to “cripple Trump’s bid for presidency” during the 2016 election.
“The lawsuit filed today outlines the Defendants’ nefarious plot to vilify Donald J. Trump by spreading lies to weave a false narrative that he was colluding with Russia,” Alina Habba, Trump’s attorney, said in a statement to Newsweek. “For years, Hillary Clinton and her cohorts attempted to shield themselves from culpability by directing others to do their dirty work for them. This lawsuit seeks to hold all parties accountable for their heinous acts and uphold the principles of our sacred democracy.”
A federal criminal investigation into the Trump campaign’s ties with Russia brought about several convictions of Trump campaign associates who lied about their political efforts, establishing Russia’s interest in helping Trump in 2016, and finding that the Trump campaign sought to capitalize on Russia’s interference in that election.
