MOMA Stabbing Suspect Captured in Philadelphia

Philadelphia, Pa. (77WABC)-Police say the suspect in the stabbing of two employees at Manhattan’s Museum of Modern Art Saturday and in an arson at his hotel in Philadelphia is under arrest in the city of Brotherly Love.

Police say 60-year-old Gary Cabana was arrested at a Greyhound Bus Terminal after being spotted sleeping on a bench in Center City. He was charged with arson for allegedly setting fire to a hotel room at the Best Western Hotel according to Philadelphia Police.

On Saturday, March 12th, at 4:16 in the afternoon, the NYPD responded to a 911 call of an assault at the Museum of Modern Art located at 11 West 53rd Street in Manhattan.

Video show Cabana jumping over MOMA’s counter and stabbing two 24-year-old employees.

Cabana was reportedly upset that his membership had been revoked following two earlier disturbances. The 24-year-old female employee suffered two stab wounds to the lower back and one stab wound to the back of the neck. A 24-year-old male suffered one stab wound to the left collar bone. EMS responded and transported both victims to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition.

Charges against Cabana related to the stabbings are pending while he is extradited back to NYC.
