A Child Injured In a Pellet Gun Shooting at Tanger Outlets One of Two Incidents

Deer Park, NY (77WABC)-Suffolk County Police say a 12-year-old girl walking in the parking of of the Tanger Outlets in Deer Park was struck by a pellet fire from an airsoft gun by a person in a passing vehicle on Monday February 21st at approximately 5:20 in the afternoon.

Following an investigation, it was determined the same vehicle was involved in a similar incident on Deer Park Avenue in North Babylon approximately 20 minutes earlier. No one was hurt in that incident.

Police say the vehicle involved in both incidents is described as a dark-colored four-door sedan, possibly a Hyundai Elantra, believed to be occupied by three or four males.

The girl was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
