WASHINGTON (77WABC) — Under attack for unannounced “ghost flights” carrying illegal migrants in the dark of nights around the country, President Joe Biden addressed the highly controversial issue of illegal migrants on Monday.

Last month, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency told Fox News that illegal immigrants with criminal records are being released into the United States. Speaking to a meeting of the nation’s governors, Biden said migrants don’t come to America so they can be abandoned by a coyote in the desert.

“It’s not like people sit around and say and in Guadalajara, ‘I got a great idea. Let’s sell everything we have given to a coyote, take us across the border, leave us in a desert in a country that doesn’t want us you know, speak the language. Won’t that be fun?’,” Biden said. “You know, there are gangs we’re working on, there’s a whole lot of illegal moment. But there’s also a way to begin to deal with the reason they’re leaving in the first place.”

Vice President Kamala Harris also spoke — leaving the issue of immigration to Biden — a big switch from Harris’ disastrous role in 2021 when she closely identified with her role of focusing on the root causes of of the border crisis. She also addressed COVID-19, to the climate crisis and cyber security, and spoke about protecting voting rights.

When reporters asked Biden about a timeline for vetting a Supreme Court nominee due to 83-year-old Justice Stephen Breyer retiring, reporters were told the event was over and quickly ushered out of the room.

Biden sparked controversy over his campaign promise to hire a black woman to the post; Republicans want the most qualified individual.
