NEW YORK, NEW YORK-(77WABC)- Get your shot–or else—the NYPD giving officers who still have not been vaccinated until February 11th to get a shot–or else they’ll likely be fired.
On Monday, the NYPD is expected to notify the unvaccinated cops who could be fired, SBA President Vincent Vallelong said in his letter.
New hires in the department who haven’t shown proof of a second dose and those who were placed on unpaid leave for not complying with a vaccine mandate in the fall face termination if they aren’t fully vaccinated by Feb. 11th.
About 5,000 cops have formally requested religious or medical exemptions. The February deadline does not affect cops who are still waiting to hear about an exemption request.
A separate deadline is expected to be announced for existing NYPD employees who still haven’t provided proof of a second jab, including those who applied for exemptions but were denied, even after appeal.
