STATEN ISLAND (77WABC) — The NYPD says a police lieutenant and a suspect were shot on Staten Island this morning around 6.a.m.
According to the New York Post, police were executing a search warrant at an address on Rockne Street between Ellwood Avenue and Villa Nova Street in Heartland Village when a suspect appeared to have fired through the door, hitting the lieutenant in the leg. Cops fired back at the shooter, striking him.
Police have said the lieutenant was taken to Staten Island University Hospital North and is in stable condition.
The shooter had also suffered non-life threatening injuries., according to police.
