NEW YORK (77WABC) — New video from the NYPD shows that a construction worker was  possibly covered in bleach and stabbed twice after he rebuffed a panhandler in Times Square.

Police say the worker was walking into a CVS on Broadway near West 40th Street around 8:30 p.m. Friday when a woman asked him for money. He declined and then walked into the store.

According to cops, when the worker left, a man who was with the woman tossed a liquid — possibly bleach — at the man’s face. The footage shows that the worker fell to the ground as he struggled with the attacker.

The man then got down on the ground and stabbed the victim twice in his back. Police say the attacker then grabbed the worker’s Samsung tablet, worth $340.

Police said the worker fled for his safety — and both the attacker and the panhandler ran off. They remained at large as of Wednesday.

The victim, who was in stable condition, later sought treatment for his stab wounds.
