WASHINGTON D.C. (77WABC)- Beginning Monday November 29th, the United States will ban travel from South Africa and 7 other African nations by non U.S. citizens due to the spreading Covid 19 variant in South Africa.
Many countries are initiating travel restrictions, and in some cases there are lock downs because of the new variant.
The World Health Organization calling an emergency meeting. The organization naming the variant OMICRON classifying it as highly contagious.
Doctor Anthony Fauci says “the Covid 19 variant in South Africa is cause for concern, because its spreading rapidly.
Fauci adding, “we’re seeing cases popping in other countries especially when theres been travel from South Africa or Southern African countries to other countries such as Israel.
