SUSSEX , NEW JERSEY ( 77WABC)- A Plane crash in northern New Jersey on Thursday has killed two people, with one of the victims identified as a crew member who flew with actor William Shatner into space.
The crash happened in Hampton Township, Sussex County sometime around 4pm after the single engine plane took off from Essex County airport bound for Sussex County.
State police identified the victims as 49 year old Glen de Vries,of New York City . de Vries traveled into space with Jeff Bezo’s Blue Orgin team.
Police say 54 year old Thomas Fischer of Hopatcong, New Jersey was also on the plane.
Blue Orgin tweeting ” Glen brought so much life and energy to the entire Blue Origin team and to his fellow crewmates. His passion for aviation, his charitable work, and his dedication to his craft will long be revered and admired”
