NEW YORK, NEW YORK (77WABC)- New York Governor Kathy Hochul is ready to spend nearly a half billion dollars in revitalizing New York City’s tourism industry.
The tourism recovery package would also support businesses devastated during the pandemic.
In 2019, tourism supported one out of 10 jobs and generated more than $100 billion dollars in economic impact.
Last year, international travel to New York City was down 86% percent from 2019, and domestic travel by 37% percent which generated a nearly 55% percent loss in direct spending, and an almost 50% percent drop in economic impact.
