Selden, NY (77WABC)-An off duty Suffolk County Police Officer died in an early morning crash in Selden, NY. Police say 30-year-old Officer Vincent Pelliccio was behind the wheel of his 2021 Jeep, heading north on Nicholls Road near West Road around 12:40 am, when his Jeep left the roadway and impacted a median.
The officer, from Port Jefferson, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Officer Pelliccio joined the department in December of 2014. His Jeep was impounded for a safety check.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact Detectives from the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
