STAMFORD, CONNECTICUT (77WABC) – Its was close, however former Mets manager Bobby Valentine strikes out in an attempt to be elected mayor of Stamford.

Democrat Caroline Simmons, defeated Valentine on Tuesday in what was considered a close election.

The former state representative is the first woman to serve as mayor of Stamford

Bobby Valentine who is a Stamford native, reportedly criticized coverage of his mayoral candidacy in his concession speech.
