Alec Baldwin Was Told It Was a “Cold Gun” states Court Document

1-13

NEW YORK (77WABC) – David Halls, the assistant director on the movie set, “Rust”, allegedly yelled, “Cold Gun” when handing Actor Alec Baldwin the prop gun that accidentally killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchens and wounded Director Joel Souza. This, according to a recently released court document.

“Cold Gun” is meant to convey the weapon isn’t loaded, according to an affidavit for a search warrant for the film set,  filed by The Santa Fe County Sherriff’s Office.

The affidavit states, Baldwin, was given one of three prop guns by Halls that were placed in a cart by the movie’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez -Reed. It also reports Halls wasn’t aware there were live rounds in the gun.

However, when Baldwin fired the gun, a live round hit Hutchins in the chest, killing her. It also wounded Souza who was standing nearby.

So far no criminal charges have been filed against anyone involved in the incident as the investigation is ongoing.
