A Long Island Man Arrested for Allegedly Robbing the TD Bank in Smithtown

Suffolk County, NY (77WABC)-A North Massapequa man was held overnight at the  Fourth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip today in connection with the robbery of a Smithtown Bank.

Following an investigation, detectives from the Major Case Unit arrested 40-year-old Philip Ferrito for allegedly robbing TD Bank at  714 Smithtown Bypass. Police say the robbery happened at approximately 11:50 a.m. on October 2nd.

Police say Ferrito entered the bank, handed a teller a note indicating he had a gun and demanding cash. The teller complied with the suspect’s demands and gave him cash from the drawer.  The robber fled on foot.

Investigators did not say how much money was stolen. No injuries were reported.
