Bronx, NY (77WABC)-A grandmother was walking with three young children in the Bronx Monday, when a man suddenly approached snatching one of the children from the woman’s grip, a 3-year-old girl.
It happened as the grandmother approached the intersection of Baisley and East Tremont Avenues. Video surveillance from a BP gas station at the corner shows the man running away with the child in his arms as the Grandmother gives chase. Good Samaritans jumped into action, saving the child and holding the suspect, 27-year-old Santiago Salcedo at the scene until police arrived.
The NYPD says Santiago is charged with kidnapping, attempted kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child.
He smiled at reporters as he was led out of the 45th precinct in the Bronx Monday night in handcuffs.
