NEW YORK (77WABC) – Long Island native, Gabby Petito, was strangled to death.

A Wyoming coroner revealed the news Tuesday afternoon and said he could not pinpoint exactly when the video blogger died.  He also added that she was not pregnant at the time and would not say if she was or was not buried.  Teton County Coroner Brent Blue said the body of the 22-year-old was exposed to the elements and wildlife for three to four weeks in Bridger-Teton National Forest.

The coroner said toxicology test results have not all come back yet.  Blue referred further questions to the FBI.  Blue added, “By Wyoming state statute only the cause and manner of death are released.”

Petito, who hails originally from Blue Pointe Long Island went missing while on a cross-country trip with her boyfriend and fiance, Brian Laundrie.  Police found her body on Sept. 19th at a campground at the Bridges-Teton National Forest in Wyoming, nearly three weeks after Laundrie returned home without her.  After trying to reach Gabby, Laundrie, as well as his parents, Petito’s mother reported her missing to police on Sept. 11th.

23-year-old Laundrie had returned to his parents’ home in North Port, Florida, on Sept. 1st in the van he was traveling with Gabby.  Laundrie lawyered up and refused to cooperate with authorities investigating Petito’s disappearance.  Laundrie’s parents then reported him missing on Sept. 17; four days after they claim he went for a hike at a Florida reserve.

The FBI has since led a massive manhunt for Laundrie with sightings of him reported as far as North Carolina.
