East Harlem, NY (77WABC)-PS 79 in East Harlem has gone all remote for one week due to a cluster of Covid-19 in the school. The outbreak comes only one week after NYC’s one million public school students and staff returned to in person learning.
Gail Brewer made the announcement on twitter, saying all of the cases are from possible widespread exposure and transmission from a pre-school orientation:
P.S 79 has been directed to close beginning Monday, September 20 due to possible widespread exposure and transmission in the school. All of the positive cases were staff and linked to pre-school orientation. The school will reopen on September 28.

Brewer says t here are 19 confirmed cases and 45 others are in quarantine.
