MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Already serving a 22 1/2 year sentence in the highly publicized death of George Floyd, former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin faces arraignment today for allegedly violating a teenager’s civil rights in a separate case that involved a restraint similar to the one used on Floyd.
A video of Chauvin kneeling on Floyd’s neck for more than 9 minutes sparked outrage and worldwide protests. Floyd, a 45-year-old Black man died May 25th, 2020.
