NEW YORK (77WABC) — The NYPD says hit-and-run drivers in Manhattan and Brooklyn left one bicyclist dead, another fighting for his life and a pedestrian injured — in two separate incidents.
In Manhattan, a hit-and-run driver left a 28-year-old bicyclist dead and a 19-year-old pedestrian injured after a collision on the Upper West Side, police said.
According to police, the unknown motorist struck the two men who were traveling together at the intersection of Amsterdam Avenue and West 99th Street around 1:30 a.m. Saturday. The callous driver fled the scene northbound on Amsterdam Avenue.
EMS transported both men to Mt. Sinai-St. Luke’s Hospital, where the 28-year-old was pronounced dead and the 19-year-old is listed in stable condition. The NYPD’s Highway Patrol Collision Investigation Squad is investigating.
Police also said a 63-year-old bicyclist was struck by a hit-and-run driver more than two hours later around 3:50 a.m. in Flatbush. The man was hit across the street from the Brookdale Hospital emergency room on Linden Boulevard and Rockaway Parkway.
Police added that the driver fled the scene and the victim was admitted to Brookdale in critical condition.
