NEW YORK (77WABC) – Two Afghan journalists told the Agence France-Presse that they suffered beatings, whippings, and were held for hours by the Taliban simply for doing their jobs.

The men say the Taliban arrested them during a demonstration by Afghan women on Wednesday and then taking to a police station where they were punched, beaten with batons, and whipped so hard with electric wires their skin was ripped off.

Photographer Nimatullah Naqdi told the agency, “One of the Taliban put his foot on my head and crushed my face with concrete. They kicked me. in head … I thought they would kill me.”

He says the Taliban said to him, “Luckily, we didn’t cut your head off.”  His fellow journalist, Taqi Diriabi, was also beaten.

Driabi said: “We were suffering so much that we couldn’t move … They see us as enemies.”
