VENICE, CALIFORNIA (77WABC) – Republican hopeful for California governor, Larry Elder, had to cut his campaign event short yesterday in Venice, California after he was the victim of a racist attack.
When Elder, a conservative radio talk show host, arrived in Venice with his staff to tour a homeless encampment, a white woman in a gorilla mask threw an egg at him, hurled obscenities, and then punched one of Elder’s staffers in the face.
Elder was in Southern California Wednesday campaigning ahead of next week’s recall election. He is currently leading in the polls among the 46 candidates running to replace Governor Gavin Newsom.
Another man also attacked Elder’s staff member, punching him in the back of the head. No arrests were made. See the incident below.
