Trenton NJ (77WABC)-A new Covid-19 mandate in NJ. Gov. Phil Murphy (D) announced Monday during a news conference that state employees and teachers of pre-kindergarten through 12th grade must be fully vaccinated by Oct. 18th. If they are not vaccinated by then, they will be required to undergo COVID-19 testing once or twice a week.
NEW: All preschool-through-12 school personnel are required to complete a full vaccination course or undergo regular testing at a minimum of once to twice each week.

New Jersey joins California, Connecticut and Washington in requiring teachers both to be vaccinated and wear masks.
The union representing New Jersey’s teachers issued a statement in support of Gov. Murphy’s new order:

The new mandate, is for both public and private schools in NJ.
On Monday, New York City mandated vaccinations for teachers.
