News: C-17 Carrying Passengers Out Of Afghanistan
New York, NY (77WABC)- A mother watched as her 2 year old daughter was fatally trampled at the Kabul Airport in Afghanistan on Saturday as they attempted to flee the Taliban.
“My heart is bleeding,” the girl’s mother, a former employee of a US. organization in Kabul, told the New York Times. “It was like drowning and trying to hold your baby above the water.”
The woman and her family had been trying to secure a flight out of the country from the airport when the vicious crowd stampeded towards the gates. She then attempted to search for her daughter, but found her lifeless body which had just been trampled.
President Biden has ordered 6 commercial airlines to help transport people from Afghanistan as Washington attempts to speed up the pace of departures of Americans and at-risk Afghans.
