Eight Shot in Front of NYCHA’s Roosevelt Houses in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, NY (77WABC) — Police say two shooters are at large after at least 8 people were shot at approximately 12:24 a.m. in front of NYCHA’s Eleanor Roosevelt Houses at 927 DeKalb Avenue.

Deputy Chief Scott Henderson, during a press conference at the scene of the shooting, said two gunmen approached from Pulaski Street, firing into a crowd of people striking eight victims. Five men and three women, ages 18 to 27 years of age, were each shot once. Police say the injuries are believed to be non-life threatening in nature. The victims are being treated at area hospitals.

NYPD Deputy Chief John Shell, Commander of Brooklyn North Detectives, said there were approximately 150 people outside the housing development, listening to music, when the shooting took place. Bullets smashed thru the windows of two apartments at the Roosevelt Houses, but Shell said no one inside of those apartments was hit.

Shell said additional detectives are being brought in to interview witnesses and surveillance video.

The gunmen remain at large. Police say anyone with information is asked to call the CrimeStoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-tips. All calls will be kept confidential.
