New York (77WABC) – A 13-year-old boy has died after being struck by lightning during a thunderstorm that passed over Orchard Beach late Thursday afternoon.
Carlos Ramos of the Bronx died after being transported to Jacobi Medical Center, along with six other people were hospitalized after the incident.
The storm dropped heavy rain along with thunder and lighting —which forced lifeguards to clear the water.
Sources tell 77WABC that the seven people involved in the accident may have been a family who were having a beach day. The remaining six people are expected to survive.
