Brooklyn, NY (77WABC)-Tragedy in Flatbush, Brooklyn on Tuesday. Police say a 19-month-old boy was killed when he was mauled to death by the family’s pet Rottweiler inside the family’s home at 358 East 17 Street.
Police say the boy’s parents were at work at the time of the attack.
Upon arrival to residence, police say the child was bleeding heavily from his neck and shoulder. EMS transported the boy to Maimonides Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Two siblings ages 9 and 11 were not hurt.
The dog was contained inside of a room prior to police arrival. The Emergency Service Unit personnel responded to the scene and took custody of the dog, which was brought to Animal Care and Control. No charges have been announced.
The investigation remains ongoing.
