Cuomo-Sexual-Misconduct-Fallout
NEW YORK (AP) — Roberta Kaplan has resigned as the leader of Time’s Up, the #MeToo-era organization, which is devoted to fighting sexual harassment. She’d been under fire for advising NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s administration in its effort to discredit one of Cuomo’s accusers.
Time’s Up says it agreed with Kaplan that stepping down as chair of the group’s board of directors was “the right and appropriate thing to do.” Kaplan’s role stunned sexual assault victims and others.
NY State Attorney General Letitia James announced last week her investigation into Cuomo found he sexually harassed 11 victims. Cuomo has denied wrongdoing, “I never touched anyone inappropriately or made inappropriate sexual advances,” he said in a taped response to the AG’s report. Cuomo has not been seen in public since the report was issued. He’s been sequestered at the Governor’s Mansion in Albany, NY.
The NY State Assembly is moving forward with its impeachment inquiry into the Governor and is expected to issue a recommendation in the coming weeks.
