(New York, NY)-Another  blast of summer is coming. Weather officials say temperatures will climb into the low 90’s Wednesday and Friday, and into the high 80’s on Thursday, but the heat index will make it feel even warmer. A heat advisory is issued from 11 am to 8 on Wednesday. An excessive heat warning is issued from 11 am to 8 pm on Thursday for all five boroughs of NYC and Northeast NJ.

The National Weather Service says an excessive heat warning means dangerously  hot conditions are forecast with the heat index values up to 105 expected. Under a heat advisory, heat index values around 100 are forecast.

People are advised to limit outdoor activity. Those at highest risk due to medical conditions are advised to stay in air conditioning.

Officials are asking people to check on neighbors and especially the elderly.

New York City residents should call 3 1 1 to identify cooling center locations and obtain `Beat the Heat` safety tips.
