Catsimatidis Family & Investors to Launch a Minor League Baseball Team

New York, NY (77WABC)-Minor league baseball is coming back to Staten Island. The Catsimatidis family continues to invest and revitalize NYC in the aftermath of the viral pandemic with large investments.

Now 77 WABC Owner John Catsimatidis and a group of investors is starting a  new team that will play out of the Richmond County Ballpark on the shore of the New York Harbor.

The investment group will operate the team.

There will be a contest in the Staten Island Community to operate the team.

The stadium will have other uses including concerts.

Under a massive reorganization MLB disbanded 40 minor league teams last year due to the viral pandemic.

Mr. Catsimatidis, a hugh baseball fan, has been very active in revitalizing New York before and since the viral pandemic. Mr. Catsimatidis wife, Margo,  today is honored to throw out the first pitch at the Brooklyn Cyclones game on Coney Island to celebrate Coney Islands revitalization. The Cyclones play the Jersey Shore Blue Claws.
