Suffolk County, NY (77WABC)-A person taking a walk made a grisly discovery along the side of a road in Middle Island Sunday morning. Suffolk Police say the person discovered a dead body on the side of Whiskey Road, near Creekside Drive, in Middle Island around 7:30 am.
Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body.
County Police say the body was taken to the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner for autopsy to determine the cause of death and identity of the deceased.
Investigators don’t yet if the person’s death was criminal or non-criminal in nature.
