New York, NY (77WABC)-Heavy rain and possible winds of 20 to 30 mph are forecast with gusts up to 40 mph for parts of the Tri-State as Tropical Storm Elsa, a fast moving system, makes it was along the Northeast Coast. Rain is falling, with the possibility of amounts up to an inch per hour.
The impact of Elsa is expected to diminish around 2 this afternoon; however, a second storm system is forecast to bring more thunderstorms and 50 mph winds around 5 pm, impacting the afternoon rush hour.

New York City’s Office of Emergency Management is urging caution due to Elsa, reminding motorists never to drive thru flooded areas:
Heavy rain is creating hazardous travel conditions across the Tri-State as the core of #Elsa passes through the region over the next several hours.
Stay alert for flooded roadways and never drive through flood waters!

The National Weather Service for a time this morning issued tornado warnings for parts of NJ and Delaware although those warnings have expired.
A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for sections of Long Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts including Cape Cod, Block Island, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket.
The tropical storm follows up to six inches of rain in parts of the tri-state area Thursday which flooded some NYC Subways and stranded motorists along the Major Deegan Expressway.
