Staten Island, NY (77WABC)-Police are hoping the public can help them identify a suspect who violently attacked an MTA bus driver after being told that scooters are not allowed aboard MTA buses.
The NYPD has released video in hopes of identifying the suspect. Police say the man attacked the driver of an SIM10 bus at the intersection of Fingerboard Road and Narrows Road South on Monday, May 10th at 6:18 in the morning. Police say the suspect attempted to board the bus with an electric scooter and became involved in a verbal dispute with the 46-year-old MTA bus driver. Police say the verbal dispute escalated into a physical one. The suspect allegedly struck the bus driver in his face with his hand, stepped off the bus and fled on the scooter.
The bus driver suffered pain and swelling to his face. He was transported by EMS in stable condition to Staten Island University Hospital – North Campus.

Video of the incident is attached. The unidentified male is seen with a helmet/hardhat with a distinctive design clipped to his backpack.
