Another weekend evening shooting in Times Square within the last 90 days — has sparked more fear from tourist and more uproar amongst city leaders who say crime is out-of-control across the five boroughs.

Police say the victim was near West 45th Street and 7th Avenue, around 5:15pm Sunday when the 21-year-old marine, visiting from upstate New York, was shot in the back. Investigators don’t believe the victim was the intended target and say the suspect was aiming at another person.
The 21-year-old was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition, the NYPD said.
The gunman, who ran east on West 45th Street after the shooting, had fired several shots during a “heated argument” with other people, NYPD Chief of Department Rodney Harrison said.
Along with video, the NYPD released photos of the suspect as well, which you can view below:
Mayor de Blasio, during his Monday morning press briefing, says he was deploying 50 additional police officers to Times Square in response to Sunday night’s shooting.
“It is just an unacceptable state of affairs,” said Mayor de Blasio. “This is a place that is precious and so important to New York City. It has to be safe, so we are adding additional officers.”
The shooting on Sunday marked a violent weekend across the city, where the NYPD reported some 19 shooting incidents and a total of 23 shooting victims over the weekend.
The New York City Police Benevolent Association, the union representing NYPD officers, wrote a scathing tweet about Sunday’s Times Square shooting.
Yes, it happened again. Why?
He KNOWS he'll be arrested, just like the last Times Square shooter. But he has no fear. Why?
Because he keeps hearing the same thing from our elected officials. Shock & outrage, but no laws changed, no new consequences.https://t.co/kEw4jwJl0R
