YONKERS (77WABC) – Yonkers Police made several arrests after dozens of people left a man seriously injured Thursday night.
A wild gang assault shows a man getting hit in the head with a bottle and stomped on, then left alone in the middle of the street.
“Well over fifty people last night saw what happened, and we need them to come forward and do the right thing,” Yonkers PD Commissioner John J. Mueller in a press release. “There is a lot of talk about police responsibility and police accountability, but there is also community responsibility and community accountability to each other.”
“I can say with absolute certainty that everyone would agree this is not the kind of world we want to live in,” Mueller added.
This is the third violent incident in two months in the Yonkers area, after a targeted drive-by shooting injured four people June 10, as well as 6-year-old boy was shot in the chest in April. The little boy also survived.
