A Staten Island Woman Scammed of $16,000 After Offering to Feed “Hungry” Kids

Staten Island, NY (77WABC)- Police say a Staten Island woman fell victim to a ruse. Around two in the afternoon on May 27th, the woman was approached by individuals at Park Hill Avenue and Palma Driver telling her that they needed help in feeding their children who were with them.
The 69-year-old woman invited the individuals and the children to her apartment with the intention of feeding them. Instead, police say the suspects stole $16,000 in cash from the woman’s apartment before fleeing in a white SUV.

Officers from the 120th Precinct are asking anyone with information about the vehicle involved or the suspects to contact them.
