NEW YORK (77WABC) – A mass shooting in San Jose, Calif. has left multiple wounded and dead, including the shooter, according to the Santa Clara County Sherriff.
According to the Sherriff’s office, the shooting erupted near a VTA light rail yard around 7 a.m. Pacific time, located at 100 W. Younger Ave. in San Jose, about 50 miles south of downtown San Francisco.
Deputies currently on scene for an active shooter investigation in the area of 100 W. Younger Ave. SJ. Please stay away from the area. More info to follow.

The Sherriff’s office tweeted about an hour later saying that the shooter was dead.

San Jose Mayor Sam Licardo tweeted soon after the shooting had started that the shooter was down and injuries were being treated.
A shooting at the VTA facility on Younger St has left several people being treated, but the situation is still being assessed. The shooter is no longer a threat, and the facility has been evacuated. I will update as more information becomes available.

San Jose Police also tweeted, saying that the investigation was still ongoing.
Units are currently at the scene of a shooting in the area of Younger Av and San Pedro St.
This is still an active scene and we ask that everyone stay out of the area while we conduct our investigation.
