New York, NY (77WABC)-As an incentive to get 12 to 17-year-olds vaccinated against Covid19, NY Governor Andrew Cuomo Wednesday announced the “Get a Shot” campaign and “make your future,” said the Governor.
From Thursday, May 27th until July 7th of this year, 12 to 17-year-olds NY residents receiving a two-dose Pfizer vaccination against Covid 19 will become eligible for one of fifty scholarships to a state-run college or university. The Governor explained that a raffle giving away a total of ten scholarships will take place each Wednesday thru July 7th. The scholarships he said include free tuition room and board for four years.
The 12 to 17-year-old age group represents the group having the highest infection rate for Covid19, but also represents the group of individuals with the lowest vaccination rate.
The announcement comes as Governor Cuomo says there has been a 47% drop in people getting Covid19 vaccinations.
