NJ’s Attorney General Saturday’s Mass Shooting in Bridgeton was “Targeted”

Fairfield Township, NJ (77WABC)-A host of officials gave a briefing this morning on Saturday’s mass shooting in Bridgeton in which two people were killed and 12-others injured as hundreds fled a Birthday Party on East Commerce Street.

During the briefing NJ attorney general Gurbir Grewal said the shooting was “targeted.” He did not release details as to the possible motive for the shooting.

One person is under arrest. Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae said 36-year-old Kevin Dawkins of Commerce Street in Bridgeton was arrested on Sunday. He is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a  weapon for an unlawful purpose.

 

Killed were Bridgetown residents 30-year-old Kevin Elliot and 25-year-old Asia Hester. Officials did not release the name of the 12 shooting victims.

An investigation is ongoing.

The Prosecutor said tips about the shooting can be made anonymously to nj.ccpo.org/tips.

Also taking part in the briefing at the County Prosecutor’s Office was NJGovernor Phil Murphy and Colonel Patrick Callahan of the NJ State Police.
