New York, NY (WABC-77)- Imagine a block party and a drive-in movie…sounds like the perfect summer evening, right? This year, the Tribeca Film Festival will bring the Festival directly to neighborhoods around New York City using traveling 40-foot state-of-the-art LED cinemas, the first mobile HD screens in the country, to connect New Yorkers to the classic festival experience.
“Our founding mission is even more relevant today and we wanted to ensure that we could reach all corners of New York,” stated Tribeca Festival Co-Founder and CEO Jane Rosenthal. “Tribeca was started to bring people together, and that’s what we aim to do again this year, to connect communities across all five boroughs and share our festival experience, safely, while supporting local businesses.”
Additionally, the TFF is highlighting Puerto Rican films to celebrate their community and will partner with the National Puerto Rican Day Parade to screen two shorts – Cucarachita Martina’s Musical Adventure (a family film) and Takeover. In addition to the Black Cinema Revival and Community Favorite selections, the Borough to Borough programming will also feature three Director’s Series participants, Love & Basketball (Sanaa Lathan), Edge of Tomorrow (Doug Liman) and Sixth Sense (M. Night Shyamalan). We are THERE for Love & Basketball…such a millennial classic!
