Andrew Giuliani Announces His Run for Gov. of NY on 77WABC

New York, NY (77WABC)-35-year-old Andrew Harold Giulini has tossed his hat into the ring for the Republican nomination for Governor of NY. The son of former NYC Mayor and 77WABC host Rudy Giuliani made the announcement during the Bernie and Sid in the morning program ahead of an afternoon press conference.

Also vying for the GOP nomination for Governor are 1st Congressional District Representative  Lee Zeldin and former Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino.

“I am the only person with executive experience from the White House,” said Giuliani.  Giuliani is an American political advisor who served as a special assistant to the president and associate director of the Office of Public Liaison during the Trump Administration. Giuliani is a contributor for the conservative media channel Newsmax TV.

Giuliani said his campaign’s strategy involves economic development, creation of additional charter schools, bail reform, creation of jobs, deregulation, crime reduction, and policies to support the police.

The younger Giuliani said he is building a  team of business leaders to  “turn on the furnace” to create jobs in NY.

On school choice, Guiliani said, “Andrew Cuomo came into office claiming that he was a champion for school choice, we saw in this most recent budget that he was completely rolled by the UFA (United Federation of Teachers) he did not increase the limits on school choice,” said Giuliani. Giuliano pledged to parents that he will increase charter schools to more than 1,000 during his first term as Governor. Charter schools in NY are capped at 460 with 270 in NYC.

Embattled Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo has not yet announced if he will seek a 4th term. He is under separate investigations for alleged sexual harassment and his administration’s alleged cover-up of nursing home death totals related to Covid-19. Cuomo has repeatedly denied wrongdoing.

New York State GOP chairman, Nick Langworthy has stated that the party intends to pick the GOP gubernatorial candidate in June of this year, 17 months before the November 2022 election.

On April 30, 2021, the Lee Zeldin campaign announced they secured more than half of NY’s GOP county chairs’ endorsements.

A candidate needs 50% of state committee support to gain the nomination.

The election for Governor of NY takes place on Nov. 8th, 2022.
