ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Two coaches for the New York Yankees, 3rd  base coach Phil Nevin and1st base coach Reggie Willits along with a staff member are in quarantine after testing positive for Covid-19. The team says all three have been vaccinated against Covid-19.

Under Major League Baseball’s guidance and advice, and with its assistance, additional testing and contact tracing are ongoing. Manager Aaron Boone said the tracing does not include any players.

Two additional cases are considered inconclusive but are expected to be ruled as positive for the virus.

The Yankees beat Tamp Bay 3 to 1 last night, the first game of their three-game set. The Yankees are on a ten-day away game road trip, one of two this year.

Bench coach Carlos Mendoza replaced Nevin as third-base coach. Minor league coordinator Mario Garza filled in as the first-base coach for Willits.

Boone said several other coaches, including pitching coach Matt Blake, were absent amid contact tracing.
