Two Staten Island Banks Targeted Within 6 Minutes By The Same Suspect

Staten Island, NY (77WABC)-Six minutes after a bank robbery suspect unsuccessfully attempted to rob the New York Community Bank, located at 1000 Hyland Boulevard, he entered another nearby bank branch, the Northfield Bank at 1158 Hyland Blvd., where he was successfully fled with more than $3,000. In both instances, the suspect handed a teller a note stating that he had a gun and demanding money.
Police say the first attempted robbery occurred at 2:34 the afternoon of May 10th at the NY Community Bank. The suspect fled empty-handed after the teller refused to comply with his demands to hand over cash. In the second heist, at 2:40 pm, the Northfield teller complied and the man fled with $3,200.

The individual is described as a male, who is approximately 5’10 and 150 pounds.  He was last seen wearing a red sweatshirt, blue surgical mask, and a white hat.
