ASIAN-ATTACK-HAMMER
NEW YORK, NY (77WABC) – Asian Americans in New York City appear to be under attack. The NYPD reports that it has seen a 400% spike in Asian Hate Crimes compared to last year. In 2020, there were a total of 29 anti-Asian crimes in the city versus 80 so far this year. The NYPD says the number could be even higher because many hate crimes go unreported.
The latest incident occurred Sunday night around 8:40pm in front of 411 West 42nd Street. The two victims were walking on the sidewalk when they were approached by stranger who then began swinging a hammer at them.
