New York, NY (77WABC)-The Tunnel To Towers Foundation Friday announced that they will pay off the mortgage for the family of fallen NYPD officer Anastasios Tsakos. The 43-year-old husband and father of two young children, ages 3 and 6, died Tuesday morning after being struck by an alleged hit-and-run driver. Police say 32-year-old Jessica Beauvais of Hempstead told investigators she’d been smoking marijuana and drinking prior to the fatality on the Long Island Expressway in Flushing Meadows.
Tsakos of the NYPD’s Highway 3 was directing traffic following a fatal crash also involving a driver with a suspended license when he was struck. He was taken to New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital in critical condition, where he later died from his injuries.

The night before the fatality Beauvais recorded a podcast. She began the video by playing N.W.A.’s song “F— Tha Police” and then vented about officers attempting to justify killing someone by saying they were afraid or felt threatened. She ends her podcast with this:
Police say Beauvais is not charged with a hate crime although she faces vehicular manslaughter, DWI, driving with a suspended license, and ten other charges related to the officer’s fatality. She was captured near the Horace Harding Expressway following the hit and run.
The viewing for Tsakos is planned from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at St. Paraskevi Greek Orthodox Shrine Church, located at 1 Shrine Place in Greenlawn. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 am at the church.
A GoFundMe for the family has raised more than $163,000, while a separate fundraiser set up by Fund the Finest, which raises money for police and military families, has raised more than $68,000 as of this post.
