A Six-Year-Old Shot While Playing In Yonkers 3 Teens In Custody

nypd-vehicle-2

Yonkers, NY (77WABC)-The latest incident of escalating gun violence in the NYC region involves a six-year-old child playing on Ash St. last night. The child was shot in the shoulder after gunfire erupted nearby.

Three teenagers under the age of 18 are in police custody in connection with the shooting. Police say they were taken into custody at separate locations. The motive for the dispute is unclear at this time.

Police Commissioner John Mueller of the City of Yonkers on the scene said, “as a parent it’s despicable, disgusting it’s horrible ‘ya know this is what we’re up against right now.” He said his heart goes out to the child’s father and his mother who is out of the country right now but “this is what we’re seeing right now with escalating gun violence.”

The boy is reportedly hospitalized in stable condition and expected to survive.
