A Man Brandishes A Handgun Following A Dispute Inside A LES Subway Station

New York, NY (77WABC)-A 30-year-old man who became involved in a verbal dispute with an individual who brandished a silver and black handgun was able to flee the Rutgers Street and East Broadway Station unharmed, as he ran from the station fearing for his life.

The man who brandished the weapon first passed by the 30-year-old male victim and engaged in conversation with him around one in the afternoon on Friday, April 9, 2021. The two became involved in a verbal dispute. Police say it was during the verbal dispute that the suspect displayed a silver and black handgun and began to follow the victim.

Police are asking the public to help identify the individual seen in the attached photos in connection with the incident. Police say the man they are looking for is an adult male, with a dark complexion, approximately 5’11”, weighs 200 lbs. and has brown eyes and black hair.

The suspected gunman was carrying a distinctive backpack with the word ‘Nike’ written in red.
