8ALARM
Jackson Heights, Queens (77WABC)-Fire officials say they expect to be on scene for days after an 8-alarm fire tore thru a six-story apartment building on 34th Ave. in Jackson Heights, Queens.
The FDNY says the fire broke out around 1 pm Tuesday quickly spreading to the six-story buildings cockloft after a resident left an apartment door open.

A total of 240-people were displaced, 21 people were hurt including 16 firefighters.

FDNY officials say the building has 150 apartments. 90 families are displaced. The Red Cross was on scene assisting residents.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
