Brooklyn, NY (77WABC)-A five-year-old girl playing on a sidewalk in East New York was grazed in her head after gunfire erupted around 6 pm Monday evening.
Police say the girl was struck by the gunfire as she played at New Lots and Montauk Avenues.
She was taken to Brookdale Hospital where she was reported in stable condition. Her name has not been released.
The NYPD says the motive for the gunfire has not yet been determined. It is unknown at this time who the intended target was.
The gunman remains at large.
An investigation continues.
